From the capital, you will journey north into the breathtaking Carpathian Mountains to unravel the mysteries of Transylvania. Walk the colourful Saxon streets of Sibiu, explore Europe’s largest open-air ethnographic museum, and sample traditional honeys at a rural apiary in Hamba.

Day 1 – Arrival in Bucharest

Touch down in Romania’s historic capital, where you will be warmly greeted at the airport by your dedicated local tour manager. Transfer to your comfortable, centrally located hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure to relax or take your first steps into this bustling metropolis.

Day 2 – Capital Sightseeing & Transylvanian Horizons

Delve into Bucharest’s contrasting history with a morning guided tour. Marvel at the grand architecture of the Palace of Parliament before wandering the cobblestone lanes of the Old Town, spotting the onion domes of St. Nicholas Russian Church and the ancient Curtea Veche Church. This afternoon, board your coach and travel north into Transylvania, stopping to admire the historic Cozia Monastery along the way. Arrive at your hotel in Sibiu for check-in and an included three-course dinner.

Day 3 – Saxon Sibiu & Rural Traditions

Join your tour manager for a morning walking tour through Sibiu’s elegant historic centre. Wander through the Grand and Small Squares, admire the 900-year-old merchant houses with their famous ‘eye-shaped’ roofs, and cross the iconic Bridge of Lies before visiting the Gothic Lutheran Evangelical Cathedral. Day 4 – Honey Tastings & Medieval Citadels

Journey through the rolling Transylvanian countryside to the charming farming town of Hamba, where you will tour a traditional apiary and sample locally produced honeys. Continue to Biertan to behold its spectacular 15th-century UNESCO-listed fortified church. Your day concludes in Sighișoara, the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler. Explore the citadel’s ancient clock tower and the Church on the Hill before checking into your hotel for a three-course dinner.

Day 5 – Royal Enclaves & Alpine Brașov

Drive south through the Carpathian Mountains, stopping in the timeless village of Viscri to admire its fortified church and traditional farmsteads, famously favored by King Charles III. Arrive in the picturesque alpine city of Brașov and check into your hotel. Your guided walking tour includes the majestic Black Church, home to a massive 4,000-pipe organ, and the First Romanian School Museum. Cap off the evening with a three-course dinner and an exclusive organ concert at the church.

Day 6 – Rescued Bears & Dracula’s Castle

Travel to Zărnești this morning for a guided tour of the Libearty Bear Sanctuary, an ethical woodland haven for brown bears rescued from captivity. Afterward, head to the town of Bran to explore its legendary hilltop castle. Walk through the narrow corridors and regal courtyards of the fortress that inspired the tale of Dracula. Return to Brașov for an evening at leisure to sample local restaurants.

Day 7 – The Pearl of the Carpathians

Spend your final full day exploring Sinaia, a refined alpine resort nestled in the mountains. Discover the breathtaking neo-Renaissance architecture of Peleș Castle, built as a summer retreat for King Carol I, followed by a visit to the active spiritual community at Sinaia Monastery.
